Contest Chair Marcus Yong with contestants Liz Fisher & Sarah Duxbury. Sarah and Liz wowed us with their speeches about the scourge of Diabetes and changing Stranger Danger to Safety Rules. Well Liz ruled on the night taking out the first place, but both Liz and Sarah will be competing at our Area N 23 final on Tuesday 21 April at the Guerrilla Establishment, East Perth. Congratulations to our contestants.
At our Open House Meeting on Monday 24 February we had a great meeting with 25 in attendance including guests and toastmasters from other clubs and our District Director Kevin Sansom. Speeches were given by our newest member Jayne Markham who gave us her Icebreaker (first TM speech) where we learnt about her passion for travelling and incredible feat swimming in the Rottnest Channel Swim. We also heard from the incredibly experienced Liz Fisher who kept us on the edge of our seats with her story telling themed speech titled D for Danger. The evening was capped off by Louise Rowe (pictured) from Louise Rowe Communications who gave us excellent tips and techniques on how to be a Magnificent MC. She highlighted the importance of bringing levity and generosity in this role as well as how to deal with interrupters. A fabulous night, great people & super supper!

Keynote speaker will be Banyandah Toastmasters alumnus and 2019 Joint Australian of the Year, Craig Challen. Craig and our club’s celebration were featured today Perth Voice newspaper entitled What makes a hero sweat?
Easter Monday night’s themed Toastmasters meeting included the ghost who walks, heroic parents and a fair dinkum Aussie.
Dave hosted the evening and Marinko’s ‘genesis’ was word of the day. In their project speeches, Liz acknowledged generous quilters, Marcus persuaded and Amanda improved her water-skiing presentation. In turn, Lachlan, Liz and Marinko gave speech evaluations.
Joe presented hero-themed table topics to unsuspecting audience members for Marcus and Mitch to evaluate.
Markus as hark master creatively tested our listening and recall while Marinko highlighted interesting uses of grammar. Chloe captured dozens of ums and ers and Saveta timed everyone.
The evening ended with Kym evaluating everyone yet to be evaluated and presenting the president’s report. Congratulations to Mitch, our newest member!

Last night’s Banyandah Toastmasters meeting was packed with extra tables required to seat everybody. Thank you to all guests and members for participating, making a dynamic meeting with Joe as our Toastmaster.
Saveta conducted our warmup- a first for her. Well done Saveta. Chloe excelled in her first time role as time keeper. Mitch had a first too, with his word of the day- good job Mitch. It was a humorous report too. Not easy to do!
Amazing Amanda gave us part 1 of Water Skiing and how she does this- a great speech Amanda! Kym gave an excellent presentation on starting a business and also received her Dynamic Leadership Level 4 – congratulations Kym!
